Terms of Service

Effective August 9, 2026 · Last updated August 9, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of sontara.ai, our mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”), operated by Human Frontier Labs Inc.(“Sontara,” “we,” or “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Acceptable Use Policy at sontara.ai/aup, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

For information about how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

1. Eligibility & accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, and you confirm this when you create an account. If you are between 13 and 18, you must have a parent or guardian agree to these Terms on your behalf.
  • You must provide accurate information when you sign in (via Google or Apple) and keep your account secure. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
  • One account per person. Sharing accounts, automating signups, or creating accounts to evade suspension is prohibited.

2. The Service

Sontara lets you create and operate AI agents that can be reached through multiple channels (web, mobile, and external platforms you connect). Each agent runs in its own isolated runtime environment. You configure the agent name, autonomy policy, and channel connections; the agent acts on your behalf within the limits you set.

Your agent’s AI processing is Sontara-managed: we route your agent’s requests to enterprise AI infrastructure on Google Cloud (Vertex AI) and bill you on a subscription basis. We do not use your conversations or content to train AI models, and our infrastructure providers are contractually restricted from doing so (see our Privacy Policy).

3. Subscriptions, billing & cancellation

  • Paid plans are billed in advance through our payment processor (Stripe on the web; Apple App Store or Google Play for purchases made in our mobile apps). Prices, features, and quotas are described at sontara.ai and may change; we will give reasonable notice before applying material price increases to existing subscriptions.
  • Free trial. Unless an offer states otherwise, new subscriptions begin with a free trial that requires a payment method. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription begins and your payment method is charged. Trial length and terms are disclosed before you start.
  • Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your dashboard via Manage Billing, which opens your billing portal — cancellation is available online, without contacting support. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Refunds. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. If you believe you were charged in error, contact support@sontara.ai and we will review your case; we issue refunds where required by law and otherwise at our discretion, on a case-by-case basis.
  • If a payment fails, we may suspend or restrict access to the Service until the balance is settled.
  • Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play are also governed by Apple’s or Google’s terms, and refund requests for those purchases must be made through Apple or Google. A subscription purchased through an app store must also be canceled through that store; deleting your Sontara account does not by itself cancel an app-store subscription.

4. Teams & organizations

  • When a Sontara Teams subscription is purchased for an organization, the organization is the subscriber and the contracting party under these Terms. The person completing the purchase represents that they are authorized to bind the organization to these Terms, and accepts them on the organization’s behalf.
  • Team plans include a set number of seats and a pooled credit allowance as described at sontara.ai; additional seats are billed as described at purchase. Organization administrators control who occupies seats and may add or remove members up to the seats purchased.
  • The organization is responsible for its members’ use of the Service in compliance with these Terms and the Acceptable Use Policy, and for ensuring members have any consents needed for content they submit.
  • Team subscriptions are billed through Stripe on the web and do not include free trials unless an offer states otherwise.

5. Acceptable use

Your use of the Service is governed by our Acceptable Use Policyat sontara.ai/aup, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms. In short: no spam or unsolicited messaging, no financial fraud or market manipulation, no impersonation intended to deceive, no harassment or stalking, no illegal content, no unauthorized access to systems you don’t own, no account multiplication, no competitive extraction, and no resource abuse. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate the AUP, with or without notice depending on severity.

6. Your content

You retain ownership of the prompts, files, and other content you submit to the Service (“Your Content”). You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, copy, transmit, display, and process Your Content solely as necessary to provide and maintain the Service for you. We do not use Your Content to train AI models or share it for marketing.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the rights to submit Your Content and that doing so does not violate any law, contract, or third-party right.

7. Copyright (DMCA)

Sontara complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. If you believe content stored on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice complying with 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) to our designated agent:

Sontara is registered with the U.S. Copyright Office's DMCA Designated Agent Directory, Registration No. DMCA-1077865.
dmca@sontara.ai

We will respond to valid DMCA notices consistent with the safe-harbor requirements, and we may terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, and trademarks (Sontara, the Sontara logo), is the property of Human Frontier Labs Inc. and its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Service in accordance with these Terms. We reserve all rights not expressly granted.

Feedback, suggestions, and ideas you send to us are non-confidential and may be used by us without compensation or attribution.

9. Autonomous agent actions

When you enable “Full Auto” or a comparable autonomy setting, you authorize your agent to take real-world actions on your behalf without requesting per-action confirmation. These actions may include, without limitation:

  • Email and messages. Composing and sending email, replies, drafts, or messages from your connected accounts (such as Gmail, Slack, Telegram, Discord, or WhatsApp). These messages are sent under your identity, from your address, and are subject to the terms of the underlying platform.
  • Calendar and scheduling. Creating, modifying, deleting, or accepting calendar events; sending invites; scheduling future actions via recurring jobs.
  • File operations.Reading, writing, and executing files in your agent’s workspace and in connected file services (such as Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets).
  • Command execution.Running shell commands and code in your agent’s sandboxed environment, including outbound network requests, package installs, and computation against third-party APIs you have authorized.
  • Web operations. Driving a browser that may be logged into your accounts (including banking, healthcare, government, social, and commerce sites). Browser actions may include navigation, form fills, clicks, file downloads, and interaction with sites where you have an authenticated session.
  • Financial actions. Placing, modifying, or canceling orders, trades, transactions, or bids on financial platforms you have connected (including prediction markets such as Kalshi or any future-supported exchange or brokerage), using credentials or API keys you provide.
  • Third-party API calls. Invoking APIs of any service whose credentials you have connected, for any purpose your agent determines is responsive to your requests.

You acknowledge and agree:

(a) Attribution.Actions taken by your agent are attributed to you, not to Sontara. You are the principal; the agent is your tool. Sontara facilitates the agent’s execution but does not direct it.

(b) Not a licensed advisor.Sontara is not a broker, investment adviser, commodity trading adviser, financial planner, attorney, physician, or any other licensed professional. Nothing the Service does — no recommendation, analysis, action, or output — constitutes investment, legal, medical, tax, or other professional advice.

(c) Irreversibility. Autonomous actions may be difficult or impossible to reverse. Email sent cannot be unsent. Trades placed cannot be unwound without market exposure. Files deleted may be unrecoverable. You bear the consequences of irreversible actions taken on your behalf.

(d) Informed choice of autonomy level. You have reviewed and understand the autonomy settings you have selected. You may reduce your agent’s autonomy at any time from your agent’s Settings, which will cause future actions to require your explicit confirmation.

(e) Malicious content (prompt injection).Your agent processes content from external sources (emails it reads, websites it visits, files it ingests). If your agent encounters content engineered to manipulate it (a “prompt injection attack”), actions resulting from that manipulation remain your responsibility under this Section. Sontara will use reasonable efforts to detect and block known attack patterns and will disclose material incidents to you.

(f) Reduction path.If you do not want your agent to take these actions without your approval, select a lower-autonomy mode in your agent’s Settings before connecting external services. You may also pause or cancel the Service at any time via Manage Billing in your dashboard.

(g) Third-party platform terms. Each platform your agent acts on imposes its own terms. You are responsible for ensuring your agent’s actions comply with them. Sontara is not a party to your relationship with those platforms.

10. AI output disclaimer

Sontara’s agents are powered by large language models that generate output based on statistical patterns. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, inconsistent with itself across sessions, or offensive.

Sontara is not a licensed professional service of any kind. Nothing your agent says, writes, recommends, or does constitutes legal advice or an attorney-client relationship; medical, psychiatric, or therapeutic advice or diagnosis; financial, investment, commodity-trading, tax, or accounting advice; or licensed-professional advice in any other regulated domain. Do not act on AI output in these areas without consulting a qualified, licensed professional.

You are responsible for reviewing AI output before relying on it, and for actions your agent takes under the autonomy settings you configured (see Section 9).

11. Third-party services & connected platforms

The Service integrates with external platforms you choose to connect. When you connect a channel (such as Telegram, Slack, Discord, or WhatsApp) or a service (such as Google Workspace), that platform’s terms apply to activity routed through it, and you are responsible for complying with them — including bot policies, spam rules, and content guidelines.

We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their practices or for outages, changes, or content originating from them. Your use of a third-party service is at your own risk.

12. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AVAILABILITY, ACCURACY, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR TITLE. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT AI OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE.

13. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL HUMAN FRONTIER LABS INC., ITS AFFILIATES, OR THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU HAVE PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM AND (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THESE LIMITATIONS, IN WHICH CASE THEY APPLY TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

14. Indemnification

You will indemnify and hold harmless Human Frontier Labs Inc.and its affiliates from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and reasonable expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) Your Content; (b) your use of the Service in violation of these Terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, or applicable law; (c) your violation of any third party’s rights; or (d) actions taken by an agent you operate under autonomy settings you configured. We may assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification by you.

15. Termination

  • You can stop using the Service at any time. You can delete your account from your account settings on the web or in the mobile app (Settings → Delete account), or by emailing support@sontara.ai. See sontara.ai/data-deletion for exactly what is deleted and when.
  • We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or the AUP, if continuing to provide the Service to you would expose us to legal or financial risk, or if we discontinue the Service for all users with reasonable notice.
  • Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution) survive.

16. Changes to the Service or these Terms

We may modify the Service, including features and pricing, at any time. We may also update these Terms; when we do, we will post the new version with an updated “Last updated” date and, for material changes, notify you by email or in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

17. Binding arbitration; class-action waiver

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service that the parties cannot resolve informally within 30 days of written notice shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules and Procedures, except that either party may bring a qualifying claim in small-claims court. The arbitration will be conducted in Delaware or, at your election, in the county where you reside, and the arbitrator’s award shall be final and binding.

You agree that any dispute will be brought in your individual capacity and not as a class representative or class member. Class arbitrations, class actions, and consolidated proceedings are waived. If this waiver is held unenforceable in a particular case, this entire arbitration section is severable from these Terms and the dispute may proceed in court.

Right to opt out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing legal@sontara.aiwithin 30 days of first accepting these Terms, with the subject “Arbitration Opt-Out” and your account email in the body. Opting out does not affect any other provision of these Terms.

18. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Subject to Section 17, you and we agree to bring any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service exclusively in the state and federal courts located in Delaware, and consent to personal jurisdiction there. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual-property rights or confidential information.

19. Miscellaneous

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Acceptable Use Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
  • Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • Force majeure. We are not liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
