Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of sontara.ai, our mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”), operated by Human Frontier Labs Inc.(“Sontara,” “we,” or “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully.

For information about how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

1. Eligibility & accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are between 13 and 18, you must have a parent or guardian agree to these Terms on your behalf.
  • You must provide accurate information when you sign in (via Google or Apple) and keep your account secure. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
  • One account per person. Sharing accounts, automating signups, or creating accounts to evade suspension is prohibited.

2. The Service

Sontara lets you create and operate AI agents that can be reached through multiple channels (web, mobile, and external platforms you connect). Each agent runs in its own isolated runtime environment. You configure the agent name, autonomy policy, and channel connections; the agent acts on your behalf within the limits you set.

You can choose between:

  • Sontara-managed inference, where we route your agent’s requests to a default AI provider and bill you on a subscription basis. All new accounts use this option.
  • Legacy bring-your-own-key (“BYOK”) for accounts provisioned before May 26, 2026, where you provided your own API key for a supported third-party provider. Your relationship with that provider, including their pricing and terms, is separate from ours. New accounts are not eligible for BYOK; see Section 7 for ongoing legacy responsibilities.

3. Subscriptions, billing & cancellation

  • Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe. Prices, features, and quotas are described at sontara.ai and may change; we will give reasonable notice before applying material price increases to existing subscriptions.
  • Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial periods unless required by law.
  • If a payment fails, we may suspend or restrict access to the Service until the balance is settled.
  • Apple App Store purchases (if any) are governed by Apple’s terms in addition to these Terms. Refund requests for App Store purchases must be made through Apple.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any law, regulation, or third party’s rights;
  • Send unsolicited bulk messages, phishing attempts, malware, or spam through any connected channel;
  • Generate, store, or transmit content that is illegal, sexually exploitative of minors, defamatory, deceptive, or designed to cause harm;
  • Impersonate another person or organization;
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract source code, secrets, or model weights from the Service except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law;
  • Probe, test, or breach the security of the Service or our infrastructure;
  • Use the Service to build or improve a competing product, train machine-learning models on Sontara’s code or interfaces, or generate benchmarks intended for public comparison without our written consent;
  • Run workloads that would degrade Service quality for other users (e.g. denial-of-service traffic, runaway agents, or persistent high-volume scraping).

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these restrictions, with or without notice depending on severity.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of the prompts, files, and other content you submit to the Service (“Your Content”). You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, copy, transmit, display, and process Your Content solely as necessary to provide and maintain the Service for you. We do not use Your Content to train AI models or share it for marketing.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the rights to submit Your Content and that doing so does not violate any law, contract, or third-party right.

6. Third-party services

The Service integrates with external platforms you choose to connect. New accounts use Sontara-managed AI inference; legacy bring-your-own-key accounts may still send conversations and files to their configured AI provider for inference. When you connect a channel (such as Telegram, Slack, or Discord), that platform’s terms apply to the messages routed through it, and you are responsible for complying with them — including bot policies, spam rules, and content guidelines.

We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their practices or for outages, changes, or content originating from them. Your use of a third-party service is at your own risk.

7. Legacy BYOK responsibilities

This section applies only to legacy accounts provisioned before May 26, 2026 that supplied their own AI provider API key. New accounts use Sontara-managed inference and are not subject to this section.

If you provided your own API key for an AI provider under the legacy BYOK arrangement, you remain responsible for: (a) abiding by that provider’s terms; (b) paying that provider for usage you incur; (c) keeping your key confidential; and (d) any consequences of the key being misused before you rotate it. We store the key in encrypted form and use it only to fulfill your agent’s requests. You may remove your key at any time; your agent will then fall back to Sontara-managed inference (subject to plan availability).

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, and trademarks (Sontara, the Sontara logo), is the property of Human Frontier Labs Inc. and its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Service in accordance with these Terms. We reserve all rights not expressly granted.

Feedback, suggestions, and ideas you send to us are non-confidential and may be used by us without compensation or attribution.

9. AI output is provided as-is

AI models generate output based on patterns and may produce inaccurate, outdated, or offensive results. The Service is not a substitute for professional advice (legal, medical, financial, or otherwise). You are responsible for reviewing AI output before relying on or acting on it, and for any actions an agent takes on your behalf.

When you grant your agent autonomy (e.g. “Full Auto” mode), the agent may execute commands, send messages, and operate connected services without explicit per-action confirmation. You accept responsibility for those actions.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AVAILABILITY, ACCURACY, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR TITLE. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT AI OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL Human Frontier Labs Inc., ITS AFFILIATES, OR THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU HAVE PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM AND (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THESE LIMITATIONS, IN WHICH CASE THEY APPLY TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

12. Indemnification

You will indemnify and hold harmless Human Frontier Labs Inc.and its affiliates from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and reasonable expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) Your Content; (b) your use of the Service in violation of these Terms or applicable law; (c) your violation of any third party’s rights; or (d) actions taken by an agent you operate under autonomy settings you configured. We may assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification by you.

13. Termination

  • You can stop using the Service at any time. You can delete your account from inside the mobile app (Settings → Delete account) or by emailing support@sontara.ai.
  • We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if continuing to provide the Service to you would expose us to legal or financial risk, or if we discontinue the Service for all users with reasonable notice.
  • Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution) will survive.

14. Changes to the Service or these Terms

We may modify the Service, including features and pricing, at any time. We may also update these Terms; when we do, we will post the new version with an updated “Last updated” date and, for material changes, notify you by email or in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

15. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. You and we agree to bring any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service exclusively in the state and federal courts located in Delaware, and consent to personal jurisdiction there. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual-property rights or confidential information.

16. Miscellaneous

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
  • Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • Force majeure. We are not liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
