Sontara Partner Program Terms
Version 1.1 — Last updated August 9, 2026
These terms govern the Sontara Partners program run by Human Frontier Labs, Inc. ("Sontara", "we"). You accept them by claiming a partner code, and updated versions by continuing in the program as described in Section 9. They sit alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which also apply. We wrote these to be readable. Read them.
1. What the program is
You get a code and a link. People who subscribe to Sontara through them get 20% off their first year. You earn a commission on what they actually pay — at the rate of the tier you hold when they subscribe, for their first year, and 5% for as long as they remain a paying customer after that.
Current tiers, thresholds, and mechanics are published on the partners page. The rate stamped to each customer at the moment they convert — shown in your partner dashboard — is the controlling record of what you earn for that customer. Your dashboard shows the same numbers we see.
Elite perk.If you reach the Elite tier in a Partner Year, your own Sontara subscription is free for the remainder of that Partner Year. The perk applies once per Partner Year, while you hold Elite, and doesn't convert to cash or carry over.
2. Who can participate
You must be at least 18, able to form a binding contract, and not barred from participating under applicable law (including sanctions laws). Payouts require completing our payout provider's identity verification (Section 5) — participation is open, but money only moves to verified accounts.
3. You are independent
You are an independent participant — not our employee, agent, joint venturer, or representative. You have no authority to bind Sontara to anything, and you may not present yourself as Sontara, as employed by Sontara, or as speaking on Sontara's behalf. Your code is yours; how you share it is your business, within these terms and the law.
4. Commissions, in plain terms
Commission is calculated on the amount a customer actually pays, after their discount — never on list price. Refunds, chargebacks, and disputes reverse the commission on the affected payment — we may reverse the full commission even on a partial refund — including after it has been paid to you (we offset future earnings, or for large amounts may request repayment).
Attribution follows our recorded first touch and typed codes, one conversion per customer, ever; our records govern.
Self-referral — your own code on your own personal account — is permitted only once you have reached the published tier that unlocks it, and only once. Self-referral is never available on organization or team purchases, at any tier.
5. Getting paid
Payouts run monthly through Stripe Connect, with no minimum balance. Before anything is paid you must complete Stripe's onboarding — identity verification and tax documentation (such as a W-9 for U.S. persons or a W-8 series form otherwise) happen there. We do not pay outside this rail. You are responsible for your own taxes on program earnings; where required, tax forms (such as a 1099) will be issued for what we pay you.
Balances that cannot be paid because onboarding is incomplete remain payable once it is completed, except where a balance is voided for fraud under Section 7. If a balance remains unclaimed because onboarding has not been completed within 3 years, we will attempt to contact you at your account email before treating it as abandoned property under applicable unclaimed-property law.
6. Your residuals, and how participation ends
The 5% residual is a promise that attaches to each customer when they convert. How it ends depends on how your participation ends:
- You leave or go quiet. If you voluntarily leave the program, residual commissions stop at departure.
- You're removed for cause (Section 7): future commissions stop, and commissions are voided in cases of fraud.
- We change the terms and you decline (Section 9), or we end the program: your earned balance pays out per Section 5 and new referrals end — and commissions on customers you converted before departure (their stamped first-year rate and the 5% residual) continue while those customers remain paying customers. What you built is yours; our changes don't reach back.
7. What gets you removed
Fake transactions, stolen payment methods, accounts created to farm commissions, spam as defined by applicable law (including CAN-SPAM), text-message marketing that does not comply with the TCPA (texting people about Sontara requires their prior express written consent), bidding on "Sontara" or our brand misspellings in paid search, misrepresenting the product, impersonating us, or promoting in a way that violates the law or our Acceptable Use Policy.
We may pause or end your participation for these — with commissions voided in cases of fraud. Removal for cause is based on the conduct listed in this section, and we'll tell you what the conduct was.
8. You stand behind your promotion
You will indemnify Sontara against claims, losses, and reasonable expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising from your promotional activities — your messages, your ads, your claims about the product, and your compliance with disclosure and marketing laws. Disclose your connection every time: when you promote Sontara anywhere, you must clearly disclose that you earn a commission, as the FTC and equivalent rules where you live require. "I get paid if you sign up through this link" is enough. Undisclosed promotion is grounds for removal.
9. Changes
We can change the program — including rates and thresholds — going forward, with notice on the partners page or by email. Changes never retroactively reduce commissions on customers already converted: their stamped first-year rate and the residual terms they converted under are honored.
When we make a material change, we'll ask you to accept the new terms. Accepting applies the new terms to your future referrals. If you don't accept within 30 days, you're treated as electing to leave the program: your earned balance pays out per Section 5, and your residuals continue per Section 6. Money you earned under old terms is never conditioned on accepting new ones.
10. Trademarks and content
We grant you a limited, revocable permission to use the Sontara name and logo to promote Sontara accurately. Don't register domains, social handles, or apps that could be confused with ours, and don't modify our marks. Content you create about Sontara is yours; you give us permission to reshare it with credit.
11. The legal spine
The program is offered as-is; our total liability to you under these terms is capped at the commissions earned and unpaid at the time a claim arises. These terms are governed by the law named in our Terms of Service, with disputes handled the same way. If a clause here is unenforceable, the rest stand.
